The plight of aquatic ecosystems is amongst the highest threats to humanity moving forward, and education is one of our most effective defences. Fortunately Hong Kong is a hub for citizen science activities , with many local universities, NGOs and research institutions eager to gather data on Hong Kong’s unique ecological makeup, and how its being affected in the modern world.
Our Eco Aware dive days always contain conservation projects such as a dive site clean up, coral monitoring and/or marine life surveys. You’ll get the chance to participate in the global effort to protect our fragile underwater world, Through specialties such as Dive Against Debris, Coral Watch, and Fish ID you’ll gain valuable skills in how to safely, thoruoghly and carefully collect tangible data that will be actively used by both local and global institutions.
Our boats are often accompanied by local scientists, activists and researchers, who’ll be colelcting their own independent data, and they’ll be happy to share their knowledge and experience on the type of work they are doing in HK, and other ways you can get involved.
